My name
is Louise A. Wright and I am a wife of 30 plus years and the mother of four children and two grandchildren. I have
had a great love of babies and the birth process since I was a young girl . I dreamed for years of the
day when I would have my own children.
Within six month of marriage I was expecting my first baby. My birth plan didn't go the
way I had dreamed of and I was very disappointed. Since that time I have wanted to educate myself on the birthing process
and how I could help other women work toward the birth plan that was unique for them. Through training, studying and
observation I have become a Birth Doula and Childbirth Educator as well as a Midwife's assistant. Modern medicine has
helped the birthing process become safer and without it my children wouldn't be alive today. However, I believe it has
become so routine for the hospital staff that it has lost the personal touch that every birth deserves. Many years ago
a woman's birth took place in the home with other women attending to her. Having the services of a Doula, even in a
hospital setting, can help bring back that sense of control and comfort for mom and partner. Being educated through
classes on the process of giving birth, the mother gains the confidence she needs to know she can accomplish the labor process
successfully, either naturally or with the use of medications.
